Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Latest News

A successful New Members evening was held on 1st July 2009 and was attended by 8 new members and several of the committee. Two letters of appreciation and thanks have subsequently been received.

A donation of two sets of Braun dilators has been made to the Derby Stoma Care Team by the Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire IA for use for use in the treatment of stoma patients. The Derby team were very pleased to receive the dilators and these are already in use caring for the day to day needs of stoma patients in Derby. A further donation has also been made to provide notice boards for use by the stoma care nurses at Nottingham City Hospital. Half the cost of the dilators and the notice boards will be met by the national executive committee under its matched funding scheme

We have now received a new roller banner for presentation displays with the new Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire IA name. The first time the banner will be used is at the Derby Stoma Care open Day on 7th October.

***A date for your diaries* - our next AGM will be in the Cityside Restaurant, Nottingham City Hospital on Thursday 25th March 2010. More details will follow closer to the date.

Spare Bags

Any surplus ostomy equipment can be used in countries in Eastern Europe or the Middle East where supplies are difficult to get hold of. Contact "Jacobs Well" of 2 Ladygate, Beverley, East Yorks, HU17 8BH (01482-881162) for details.

Travel Certificates

In view of current security restrictions being imposed on travellers, we think it advisable that members consider carrying a travel certificate with them at all times. These travel certificates are available from the ostomy equipment manufacturers, and a small supply is kept at IA national office for members (phone 0800-0184724). Travel certificates are also now available for patients with an internal pouch.
